We provide funding for mini-projects that aim to bridge emerging or novel technological or mechanistic applications for the advancement of Soft-tissue manipulation (STM) therapies.
Project Priorities
Mini-projects should contribute to the advancement of the network's high-priority areas: 1. Mechanistic multiscale research measuring the physiological response to force-based manipulations in neural and non-neural cells and tissues. 2. Mechanistic understanding of the neurobiological basis of the psychosocial sense of affective touch, and how affect/mood modulates neural & physiological responses to mechanical stimuli. 3. Technology and methodology development for mechanistic studies, including computational approaches.
Timeline
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Projects must be initiated within one month of application approval
Project duration: 2 weeks–2 months
Eligibility
This award is for researchers and projects based at U.S. institutions only
Funding budgets $4,000 to $11,000
Projects must be unfunded and unrelated to a PI's funded research
Collaborative, interdisciplinary projects are highly encouraged but not required
Examples of eligible projects include: data analysis; purchasing materials and supplies or software to facilitate data analysis; support for core facility time
SUBMISSION MATERIALS (upload as a single PDF) 1. CV 2. Project description (100-200 words) 3. Project budget 4. Project period (how long will it take to complete?) 5. Requested funding amount
