The neuroscience
of massage

Working together to understand why therapeutic massage has beneficial effects.

Relieving pain, promoting healing

Massage has been shown to promote relaxation, reduce pain and anxiety, modulate inflammation, and promote overall well-being.

But scientists don't understand why massage has therapeutic benefits. Or which molecules, tissues, and brain circuits promote these benefits.

What we do

GOAL
Build an inclusive and collaborative research community focused on mechanisms mediating the body-brain connection.
RESEARCH FOCUS
