We will fund trainees, early-stage investigators, and underrepresented minority researchers to present their network-relevant research at society conferences.
About the awards
This activity contributes to our mission by enhancing the visibility of the network’s research areas and by providing professional opportunities to individuals who diversify the scientific research workforce. Approximately four awards will be given annually.
Timing
Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
Apply one month in advance of the conference/meeting, or sooner.
Eligibility
Eligible costs include hotel, flight, and conference/meeting registration.
Expenses will be made and/or reimbursed through and following University of California, Berkeley guidelines up to the amount requested ($500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000).
Only those from institutions in the U.S. are eligible.
Research statement (100-200 words) describing the presentation to be made at the conference/meeting, including the title.
Diversity statement (100-200 words), to briefly explain how you and your research contributes to mission of diversity, either based on activities in which you are engaged or lived experiences. For more information, refer to the Notice of NIH’s Interest in Diversity,
Describe the financial need for the award, including a description of other travel funds available to the applicant.
Proposed budget
Funding amount requested: $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000.
